Applying For A Grant


How can the Trust help?

The Trust can help vulnerable people living within England and Wales to:

  • Clear domestic water and sewerage debt.


  • Clear other priority debts, including energy debts, and purchase essential household items. These grants are known as Further Assistance Payments (FAP).


Further Assistance Payments

The following are examples of debts and costs for which support can be given through FAPs:

  • Other utility debts, e.g. water/ sewerage debt
  • Council tax debts
  • Telephone debts
  • Household items
  • Bankruptancy deposits/ debt relief orders
  • Boiler repairs/ replacements
  • Funeral expenses
  • Rent debts

The Trust cannot give you a loan or help with bills you have already paid or items you have already bought. The Trust also cannot help you with the following:

  • Fines for criminal offences
  • Overpayments of benefits
  • Educational or training needs
  • Business debts
  • Debts to central government departments e.g. tax and national insurance
  • Catalogues, credit cards, personal loans and other forms of non-secured lending
  • Medical equipment, aids and adaptations
  • Deposits to secure accommodation
  • Holidays
  • Debts to Thames Water

Debts to Thames Water

Paper Applications to the Thames Water Customer Assistance Fund that identify a debt to Veolia Water will automatically be copied to the Veolia Water Trust to be assess for a grant to clear any debt to Veolia Water. Unfortunately online applications to the Thames Water Customer Assistance Fund CANNOT be shared in the same way.

Similarly applications to the Veolia Water Trust showing debt to Thames Water will automatically be copied to the Thames Water Customer Assistance Fund (both paper and online applications).
