Veolia Water Trust
About Us


Veolia Water Trust is a charitable Trust, completely independent of its donor company. The running and development of the Trust is overseen by a group of unpaid Trustees who meet on a quarterly basis.

Trustees are:

Chairman: Peter Darby

Peter was a Director of Veolia Environment UK Limited and Chairman of Veolia Pension Trustee Limited until December 2008. Previously he held a number of senior management positions in the Water Industry including Managing Director of Three Valleys Water PLC, Managing Director of Folkestone and Dover Water and Chairman of Tendring Hundred Water.

Trustee: Keith Taylor

Keith retired in 2008 having worked in the water industry for 23 years. He has previously been a Trustee of a pension scheme and a Hospice. He is a Trustee of a Church.

Trustee: David Hewitt

David is a consultant offering financial and regulatory advice to the utilities sector (see www.dhi.consulting.com). He is also part time Finance Director to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England. Previously he had a long career in the UK water sector, his last position being Finance and Regulation Director of Three Valleys Water (now Veolia Water Central). David's other interests include being a governor of Farnborough Technical College.

Trustee: David Butcher

Dave is currently Professor of Applied Hydrology and Principal of Writtle College (www.writtle.ac.uk). He was previously Dean of the School of Animal and Environmental Sciences at Nottingham Trent University and has worked at two other universities. He has been involved in extensive research programmes with Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Severn Trent Water and the Environment Agency and his principal research interests are reservoir sedimentation, DOC runoff from upland catchments and river pollution travel times. He is vice-chairman of UCAS and suppor ts Sheffield Wednesday.
